Canara General Store

The doors at Canara General Store open early because people in Vasanth Nagar need their things before work. We are located at New Panch Ratna #30. It’s a packed space. We have shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, filled with stuff you’d expect to find in a neighborhood shop. Most of the time, I’m just moving boxes around or checking what we’ve run out of. It can get a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us helping out. People stop by for milk, soap, or maybe some snacks for the kids. The light in the back flickers sometimes, but we know where everything is even in the dark. It’s a busy street out front. You hear the horns and the people talking all day long. We try to keep the stock fresh, but sometimes the delivery truck is late and we just have to tell folks to come back tomorrow. It isn't a fancy supermarket with bright lights. It’s just a store. We’ve been at #30 for years and we know most of the faces that walk through the door. If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we usually know who does. That’s how it works around here. We just stay open and keep the shelves full as best as we can. It’s just what we do every day to get by.
