About Butter Side Up – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
In Bellandur, things move fast and we are just trying to keep up with the demand at Butter Side Up. We spend our mornings surrounded by flour and the heat from the ovens. It’s a small place and when we are baking, the whole street can usually smell it. Bellandur traffic is pretty bad so we spend a lot of time waiting for deliveries to arrive or trying to get our own stuff out to people. We don't have a lot of fancy furniture or decorations because most of our space is taken up by the kitchen equipment and the cooling racks. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting heavy sacks of sugar and standing for hours on the hard floor. Our aprons are never really clean for long and there is usually a bit of flour on everything by noon. We aren't trying to be the most famous place in town, we just want to get the baking done right and get through the day. Sometimes we run out of things earlier than expected and we have to tell people we are closed for the day. It’s just us doing what we can with what we have. The noise of the construction nearby is always in the background but we just turn up the radio and keep working. It’s a simple life focused on the ovens and the clock.
