Bishop Cotton Boys School

Bishop Cotton Boys School is sitting right on St Marks Road, which as anyone around here knows, is a very busy part of town. You can hear the traffic and the horns outside, but once the morning bell rings, the boys are usually settled in. The buildings are old and have that stone look that you don't see much in newer constructions. We’ve got old wooden benches and high ceilings that help when it’s hot. There is a lot of history in the walls here, with old photos and boards tucked away in different corridors. The field is a big part of life here; you’ll almost always see a ball being kicked around or someone practicing their run. We keep a pretty tight schedule because with so many boys, things would get messy otherwise. Lunchtime is the loudest part of the day, with everyone heading to the canteen or sitting in groups outside. We don't really go for anything flashy. It’s about getting the work done and making sure the boys behave themselves. The teachers are quite strict about the uniform, so you’ll see us reminding kids to tuck in their shirts at the gate. It’s a big place, and sometimes it’s a struggle to keep up with the maintenance of such old buildings, but we manage. People know where we are, and we’ve been part of the neighborhood for a very long time.
