Bharath Cements

Our place is located at 508 in Dummanahalli, right in the Turuvekere area of Tumkur. It’s a dusty job, working with cement all day, but someone has to do it. Bharath Cements has been a fixture here for a bit. We get the bags in, stack them up, and then load them onto the local trucks. It’s heavy work and our shirts are usually grey by lunchtime. The shop isn't much to look at, just a sturdy building that keeps the rain off the stock. We know most of the builders who come by. They usually pull up, shout a greeting, and we get to work loading. Sometimes we sit out front when it’s quiet and watch the traffic go by on the road. Tumkur is a busy place these days. We try to keep enough stock so nobody has to wait too long. There’s no fancy computer system here, just a ledger and a pen. It works for us. My nephew helps out on the weekends when it gets really busy. We don’t have a big sign or anything, just the address and the name. People know we are here at 508. It’s a simple life, moving bags from one place to another. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. I guess we've been doing this for about ten years now without much changing.
