Bangalore Water Supply & Drainage Board

Working at the Bangalore Water Supply & Drainage Board office on Kempa Gowda Road is an experience. The building is right there in the heart of the city, so it’s always crowded. You have people coming in from all over with their papers and their problems. We sit at these old wooden desks that have been here probably longer than I’ve been alive. The fans hum overhead, and there's always the sound of staplers and rustling paper. Kempegowda Road is never quiet. You can hear the buses and the shouting outside all day long. We deal with a lot of stuff, from leaky pipes in some corner of the city to people worried about their monthly bills. It’s a lot of data and a lot of maps. Sometimes the computers are slow, and we have to tell people to wait, which they never like doing. We take our breaks when we can, usually heading out to one of the small shops nearby for a quick coffee. It’s a big system, and we’re just a small part of it here in this office. The walls are covered in old notices and some faded charts. It’s not the most modern place, but it’s where the work gets done. You see all sorts of people walking through these doors every single day. We try to keep the files in order, but it's a constant battle against the sheer volume of paperwork that comes through. Every morning feels like a fresh start even if the building itself feels old.
