Ashis Design Academy

If you ever find yourself on Mysore Road near Pantarapalaya, you might notice the building at 289-A. That is where Ashis Design Academy is located. It is a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but it’s not too bad once you know the way. The academy is where we spend our time teaching and working on various design concepts. It’s a very hands-on environment. You won’t find many people just sitting around; everyone is usually busy with a ruler or a computer. We have a few different classrooms, and they are usually filled with the sound of people talking through problems or the scratching of pencils. The walls have a lot of student work pinned up, which gives the place a lot of character. We don't go for a very polished look because we think the work is more important than having fancy curtains. Being on Mysore Road means it can get a little noisy with the traffic outside, but we’ve mostly stopped noticing it. We’ve got a small kettle for tea in the corner that gets a lot of use during the afternoon slump. Most of us have been here for a while and we have a routine that works. It’s just a place where people who are interested in design can come and put in the work without a lot of unnecessary fuss.
