Aromas Of South

Our place is located in Byculla, right where Souter Street and Meghraj Sethi Marg meet up near Race Course Road. It is honestly a bit of a mouthful to say the whole address to people, but they seem to find us eventually. Aromas Of South is just a plain spot for food, nothing more than that. We spend most of our early mornings grinding rice and lentils for the day. The sound of that heavy grinder is basically the background music for our lives. Byculla 37 has a lot of old history to it, and we have been around this neighborhood for a while now. The walls in here could probably use a fresh coat of paint one of these days, but the kitchen is where we spend all our real time and energy anyway. It gets quite humid in the afternoons when the steam rises. We see all kinds of people walking by from the train station. Some stop in for a quick bite because they are in a hurry, while others sit for a bit longer. We don't have any waiters in suits or fancy tablecloths here. It is just us serving up plates across the counter. The steam from the idli cookers stays in the air all day long. Race Course Road gets really busy during the racing season, but we just stay steady. We don’t do anything special with the presentation. It is just food on a plate. My uncle always said as long as the food is hot, people will be happy.
