Arjun Stores

Our store, Arjun Stores, is at No.142/1 on Shankar Mutt Road. We are in the Gandhi Bazaar area of Basavanagudi. It’s a very traditional and old part of Bangalore. We are right near the Government School, so we get a lot of kids and parents passing by every day. The school bell is basically our clock for when to expect a rush. Basavanagudi is known for its old trees and temples, and Shankar Mutt Road is a busy part of that. Our shop is quite small, and we've been here for many years. We keep all kinds of general items that people in this area look for. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside, especially when we get a fresh delivery of goods. We have to stack things up high to make everything fit. The 560004 area has a lot of older residents who have been coming to us for a long time. They like that we are still here and haven't changed much over the decades. We don't have a computer for billing; we still do a lot of things the old way with a pen and paper. It works for us and our customers. Sometimes the traffic on the road makes it hard for people to stop their cars, so mostly it’s just people walking over from the nearby houses. We open up early and close once the street gets quiet at night. It’s a good place to be, right in the middle of Basavanagudi.
