Apco Concrete Block & Allied Products

We’ve been here in JP Nagar, specifically in the Sarswat Colony area at number 805, for quite some time now. Most mornings start around seven or eight when the first trucks pull in. It’s a bit of a dusty place, but that’s just how it goes when you’re dealing with concrete blocks and all the allied products we keep in stock. The yard is usually full of stacks. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when two lorries show up at once and there isn't much room to turn around. My desk is tucked in the corner of the small office room where the fan usually makes a clicking noise. We spend a lot of time checking the mix and making sure the blocks are setting right. It's not glamorous work. Sometimes the rain slows us down and we have to cover everything up with blue plastic sheets. People from around the colony know us well enough by now. They stop by to ask about prices or just to see what’s ready to go. We keep a ledger on the table that’s seen better days, filled with notes about who needs what and when. The tea guy comes around twice a day, which is the highlight for most of the crew working the machines. It is noisy and there's always a thin layer of grey powder on everything, including my boots. We just focus on getting the orders out and keeping the machines from jamming up too often.
