Amarnath Traders

Our business is located at No.11/A on the 1st Main in New Tharagupet. This whole neighborhood is dedicated to trade, so it’s always full of lorries and workers carrying loads on their backs. Amarnath Traders is more of a warehouse than anything else. We have high stacks of crates and bags reaching almost to the roof. The office part is just a small wooden table tucked into a corner with a calculator and some old notebooks. It gets quite dusty because of all the movement on the street outside. We spend a lot of our morning checking the arrivals and making sure the counts are right. There is a lot of shouting back and forth with the drivers. The phone rings a lot, usually people asking about what we have in stock today. We don't have much in the way of decoration, maybe just a calendar on the wall and a small picture of a deity. The floor is made of rough stone which is good because it doesn't show the dirt as much. It’s not a place for browsing, it’s a place where work happens. The tea man comes around twice a day and that’s usually our only real break. It’s a bit of a grind, but we like the routine of it. We’ve been here in Tharagupet for quite a while and the rhythm of the market is just part of our lives. Most days we finish by evening.
