Chickpete is one of those places that never really sleeps, and Alankar Hair Dress has been right in the thick of it for years. We are located at number 14 on the 10th cross of R T road. If you are looking for us, we are quite close to Udaya school. It’s a very old part of Bangalore, so the streets are narrow and always full of people and goods being moved around. Our shop is small, but it has a lot of history. We’ve seen the neighborhood change so much over time, but the need for a good haircut stays the same. Most of our customers are people who work in the local markets or live in the narrow lanes nearby. It’s a humble place. We don’t have air conditioning or fancy reclining chairs, but we have experience. We use the same techniques that have worked for a long time. People come in, have a chat about the weather or the price of things in the market, and leave looking a bit tidier. It’s a simple business. The sound of the city is always there in the background, but inside the shop, we just focus on the person in the chair. It can be a bit hard to find us if you aren't from around here, but the locals know the way. We just keep the doors open and the scissors moving day after day without any fuss or big promises.
