Ahmed Caterer

Our shop is located at 4 Shivaji Nagar, right on Poha Street Cross. We are very close to the Green Mosque, so we hear the calls for prayer throughout the day. Ahmed Caterer has been around this neighborhood for a long time. Most of our work is for weddings and community gatherings where people need a lot of food all at once. The street outside is always busy with people walking by and scooters zooming past. Inside, we have these huge pots that can cook rice for hundreds of people. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and long hours on our feet. We don't really have a menu that's printed on fancy paper. We just tell people what we can make and we go from there. The smell of biryani and spices usually drifts out onto the street, which usually brings people in to ask questions. We like the chaos of a big event, even if it means we don't get much sleep. Our family has been doing this for a couple of generations now. We don't use any modern machines for the chopping, we still do it all by hand because it feels right. It’s a crowded little shop, but it has everything we need to keep the fires going and the food moving.
