Afama Engineers is our workshop on Basavanagudi Main Road at number 44. It is a place where we deal with a lot of heavy metal and greasy machinery every single day. When you walk inside, you will probably notice the strong smell of machine oil and the loud sound of something being cut or ground down. It is not the kind of place where you want to wear nice clothes because there is a bit of grease on almost every surface. We have a couple of large lathes and some old drill presses that have been with us for a long time. They are quite noisy but they still do the job perfectly well. I spend a lot of my time looking at rough pencil sketches and trying to figure out the best way to machine a specific part. There is a small desk in the corner that is covered in grease-stained papers and a few old coffee mugs. We do not have a receptionist or a fancy waiting area for guests. If someone comes by, they usually just have to shout over the noise of the motors to get my attention. It is a very busy part of Basavanagudi, so there is always a lot of movement outside the gate. We work on all sorts of engineering tasks that local people bring in. Sometimes it is a broken piece from a pump or a custom bracket for a factory.
