Our place is at 78 Malleshwaram, right in the Shiv Nagar area. It’s a busy corner of the world with Mata Wadi and L H Road nearby. Being on Varachha Road means there is always something happening outside our windows. The best part is we are right next to the telephone exchange, so people never get lost trying to find us. It’s a house, really, just filled with things for the kids. You’ll find small chairs and low shelves everywhere because that’s how the children like it. The floors are usually covered in blocks or bits of paper by noon. We try to keep it tidy but with children around, things stay messy for about five minutes. It’s a loud place, full of singing and some crying too, if someone bumps a knee. The staff here at Aakrti Montessori House Of Children has been around the neighborhood for years. We know the shopkeepers on the street and the people who walk their dogs past the gate every morning. The building is an older style, which gives it a bit of character. Sometimes the gate squeaks when it opens, but we like the sound because it means someone is coming to visit. We spend our days watching the little ones grow up and learn how to tie their shoes or share their toys. It is simple work but it keeps us very busy from morning till late afternoon every single day.
