Kumar Granite And Marbles is located in Athani, specifically at Shanti Nagar, Plot No 30. We are in the Belgaum district of Karnataka. Our yard is filled with big slabs of stone, mostly granite and marble, obviously. It’s a dusty place. You can hear the sound of saws cutting through stone if you come by during the day. We don't have a polished showroom with air conditioning. We just have the stone stacked up where people can see the colors and the patterns. It’s heavy work, moving these pieces around with the crane or by hand. We’ve been here in Athani for quite a while now. Vino D S Khyadi is the name people usually associate with this spot. We don't try to act like a big corporation. We are just local people who know a bit about stone. Some pieces have cracks or rough edges, and we tell people that straight up. We don't use fancy lighting to make things look better than they are. If you need a piece for a kitchen or a floor, you just come down to Shanti Nagar and look through what we have. It’s a bit messy and loud, but that’s the nature of working with marble. We spend our days out in the yard, mostly. There isn't much to our office besides a table and some ledgers. We just focus on the stone and getting the cuts right for whoever needs them.
