Shivaraj Steels is right here on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Shivalinganagar. We’ve been at number 59 for a while now. Most days it’s just us handling whatever comes in through the door. The shop gets pretty dusty because of all the metal we move around, but that is just how it goes in this line of work. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s mostly just racks and stacks of steel and a couple of us making sure everything is counted right. People find us easily because we are on the main stretch of MG Road. Sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard to hear, but we manage. We aren't doing anything revolutionary here, just supplying what people need for their construction or repair jobs. Usually, someone is here by eight in the morning to open the shutters. It’s a lot of physical work, loading and unloading, and the ledger is always sitting on the desk with tea rings on it. We know most of the people who stop by because they live or work in Shivalinganagar too. If you walk past, you’ll probably see us sorting through the inventory or talking to a driver. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s where we spend our days. We just try to keep things organized so when a customer asks for a specific size, we don't have to spend an hour looking for it. It is honest work and it keeps us plenty busy.
