Jokhanpur is a quiet village near Baheri where almost everyone you meet has mud on their boots. We are the people behind Jokhanpur Farmer Producer Company Limited. It’s not a complicated story. Deena Nath and a few other farmers around here decided that we were tired of being at the mercy of middle men who didn't understand the work that goes into a harvest. So we registered this company to give ourselves a bit more control. We spend our time in the fields of Jokhanpur, growing whatever the season allows. It’s a regular village life where we help each other out when a tractor gets stuck or when someone needs an extra hand with the harvest. Our address is just a house in the village, because that’s where we are. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy website. What we have is a lot of experience with the local climate and a desire to see our village prosper a bit more. We get together to talk about seed quality and how to get our produce to the bigger markets without losing all our profit along the way. It’s honest work, and it’s often frustrating when the rain doesn’t come, but being part of this group makes the hard times a little easier to handle for all of us.
