We work out of a residential area because it’s where we live and know people. Burdwan is a traditional place and we like to keep our business that way too. We don't do anything too fancy. We just have a list of people looking for work and a list of places that need staff. Our day usually starts with checking messages and seeing who has called. We talk to folks from the neighborhood and even people coming in from the nearby villages. Everyone is looking for a way to support their family. We try to be honest with them about what is available. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to wait it out, but that’s normal here. We use simple registers to keep track of everything. It’s not a high-tech office with glass walls. It’s just a room with some chairs and a desk. We’ve known many of the business owners in town for years. That helps us know where someone might fit in.
