Lecturer

I live out in Burdwan, West Bengal, specifically near Kalna Gate in the Bhadrapalyi area. My name is Achintya Roy, and I’m currently staying care of Madon Biswas over by Khan Pukur. Working as a lecturer involves a lot of back and forth, but this is where I’m based for now. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, which is good for when I have to sit down and go through student assignments late at night. Burdwan is a place with a lot of history, and you can really feel it in the older streets around here. My daily routine is pretty fixed. I head out to the college, do my hours, and then come back to this part of town. There’s always a pile of books on my table and some tea nearby to keep me going. I’ve been doing this for a while now, and the teaching life just becomes a part of who you are. The house near the pond has a certain calmness to it that I enjoy. Sometimes the local kids are playing outside making a lot of noise, but mostly it’s just the usual sounds of a residential spot in West Bengal. I don't have a big office or anything, just a simple setup where I can get my work done. It’s a bit of a walk to the main transport links, but the exercise is probably good for me. I keep my notes organized as best as I can, though things usually get a bit messy during the heavy exam season. It's just a regular life of teaching and staying here.
