Udaya Crane Service

Down on D P Road in Rajajinagar, things stay pretty hectic from sunrise to sunset. Udaya Crane Service is located at number 109, and if you know this part of the city, you know how the traffic can get. Our cranes are parked where we can get them out onto the road quickly, but sometimes the local traffic makes that a real challenge. Every morning starts about the same way. We check the hydraulics and see what the schedule looks like for the day. It is mostly just a few of us and the machines. We do not spend much time in the small office because there is not much to do there besides answer the phone when it rings. The air in Rajajinagar always feels a bit heavy with the exhaust from all the buses passing by. We have seen this neighborhood grow up around us over the years. There used to be more empty plots, but now every inch of the road is taken by shops and houses. We just try to keep the cranes in good shape so they do not break down in the middle of a job. It is a lot of heavy metal and thick cables, so your hands stay black from the grease all week long. We eat our lunch sitting on the toolboxes or in the cab of the truck. It is just a plain, honest way of making a living in Rajajinagar.
