The Western Express Highway is always busy, no matter the time of day. We are located right at 38 Ramamurthy Nagar inside the Jay Bharat Industrial Estate, which is just opposite to Ast. Being so close to the highway means there is a constant rumble of trucks going by, but we have gotten used to it over the years. Inside the estate, it can get pretty hot during the summer months. Usually, our day starts early with checking the oil levels and making sure the cranes are ready to go. The drivers show up around eight and we have a quick chat about where the equipment needs to be. It is noisy because of the traffic and the machines, but that is just how it is in an industrial area. Ramamurthy Nagar has changed quite a bit since we first set up here, with more buildings and less open space. You see the same faces every morning at the gate. There is a lot of grease and heavy lifting involved in this line of work. We do not have a fancy office with air conditioning or soft chairs. It is just a simple desk and some wooden stools. Most of the time we are either out on the highway or helping someone move equipment within the estate. The dust from the road gets into everything, but we just keep the machines running. It is a practical life, and we just focus on getting the day's work done.
