Shree Avdhoot & Co.

We are tucked away in the New Timber Market at Jayanagar, specifically at 267 and 337. Shree Avdhoot & Co. is surrounded by the smell of sawdust and cut wood all day long. It is a bit of a maze in this market. We deal with various types of timber that people use for furniture or building houses. There are stacks of wood everywhere you look. Some days it is very busy with carpenters coming in to pick out pieces for their projects. We spend time checking the quality of the planks and making sure they are dry enough. It’s a bit of a rough environment, not like the clean shops in the main parts of Jayanagar. Our hands get calloused and there is always a layer of dust on the desk. We use a simple ledger to keep track of what goes out. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult because we have to cover everything up quickly. It’s not a high-tech business. We rely on knowing our wood and knowing who needs what. Most people who come here have been doing business with us for years. We aren't big on talking much, just getting the measurements right and loading the trucks. The timber market has its own rhythm and we’ve been part of it for a long time. It’s steady work that requires a bit of muscle and a lot of patience.
