Balangir Puintala Odisha Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are based out of Mahimunda, which is a small spot near Balangir. The company is set up at Kishore Kumar Rath’s place. It’s mostly just us farmers from the Puintala area coming together to see if we can do things a bit better. Farming around here is tough sometimes with the rain being so unpredictable. We thought if we formed this producer company, it might help with getting seeds or selling what we grow. It is not some big corporate office, just a room where we meet and talk. Most of the guys know each other from the market anyway. We try to keep track of who is growing what. There is always a lot of talk about the soil and which fertilizers are actually working. We are still figuring out the business side of things. It’s a lot of writing things down and making sure everyone is on the same page. Mahimunda is where you will find us if you need to talk. We are usually around in the mornings before it gets too hot to work. It’s a local effort, nothing more. We don’t have a fancy website or anything like that. Just a board outside and some chairs inside. If you are passing through the village, you can't miss us. We just keep our heads down and do the work day by day. It is a long road ahead but we are in it together.
