Dr Arvind Smarak Inter College is located in Chirauli, over in the Faizabad area. It is a simple place in a rural setting. You won't find any skyscrapers or fancy malls here. The college is a local institution where children from the nearby villages come for their intermediate education. The building is one of those old-style structures with wide corridors and high ceilings to help keep things cool during the summer. We have a courtyard where students gather for their breaks. It’s not very polished; the walls might have some chips and the furniture is well-used and basic. We handle everything ourselves, from sweeping the floors to managing the student files in the office. There isn't a big administrative department. It’s just a few of us working together. We sit in the main office and keep track of everything in handwritten registers mostly. Faizabad has its own pace, and Chirauli is even slower. You can hear birds and the occasional tractor passing by outside.
