Jokihat Hari Mirch Krisak Producer Company Limited

Our company is called Jokihat Hari Mirch Krisak Producer Company Limited. We are based at the house of Doman Lal Biswas in Bidya Pati Nagar, which is in the Araria district. As you can probably tell from our name, we spend a lot of our time dealing with green chilies, or hari mirch. Around Jokihat, many of the farmers grow these chilies as their main crop. They are a big part of how we make our living here. We are not a large corporation with a lot of money or big advertisements. We are just a group of local farmers who decided it was better to work together than to work alone. We often meet up at the house in Bidya Pati Nagar to talk about the current prices and how the crops are looking in the fields. It is a very informal way of doing business. Most of us have been farming these lands for a long time, just like our parents did before us. Growing chilies takes a lot of attention. You have to be careful with the water and make sure the sun isn't too much for them. We share our tools and whatever we know about farming. If one of us has a problem with their crop, the rest of us try to help. It is more of a community group than a cold business. We don't have a polished image. We are just the people growing chilies in Araria.
