Ambica Steels

Ambica Steels is based out of the Gidc Estate on Rajpipla Road. We are right opposite Bhavna Farm, so it is easy to find us if you know the landmark. Working with steel is heavy work and it gets quite loud in the shop. We have been at this location for a good bit now. Most of our days are spent moving metal around and making sure the orders are ready for the trucks. It is dusty and the air always smells a bit like iron, but that’s just how an industrial estate is. We don't have any fancy air conditioning in the main work area, so it gets hot. We just wear our gear and get through the shift. My desk is usually covered in invoices and scraps of paper with measurements written on them. We aren't trying to be some big global firm; we just provide steel to people who need it for their projects. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing a motor or a belt. It can be frustrating, but that is part of the job. We know the other guys in the Gidc pretty well, and we often borrow tools from each other. It’s a practical kind of life here. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too high and stay until the last load is gone. It is just a regular group of people doing honest work.
