Balaji Metal

Our spot is Plot K-1-210-b. It’s not the biggest place, but it’s where we handle all our metal work. We’ve got piles of scrap and sheets around the yard. It can look a bit disorganized to an outsider, but we know exactly what is in each pile. We spend a lot of time sorting through different types of metal. The sound of clanging steel is something you get used to. We use a heavy scale to weigh everything that comes in. It’s a very manual job, lots of lifting and moving stuff by hand or with simple trolleys. The sun reflects off the metal in the afternoon, so it gets incredibly bright and hot out there. We usually keep a big jug of cold water near the door for whoever is thirsty. It’s just a small team of us. We don't have any fancy brochures or a sales team. People usually just find us because they know we’re at this plot. We’ve got some old machines that still run better than the new ones. Sometimes the neighbors come by to chat or see if we have a specific part they need. It’s a quiet life in some ways, despite all the noise of the metal. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. The gate needs a bit of oil because it squeaks, but we’ll get to that eventually. It’s just us and the metal, day in and day out.
