Exzakta Meccanica

Our workshop is located in the Ankleshwar G.I.D.C. area, right near the police station. It’s a dusty part of town, but that is where all the industrial action happens. We spend our days working on mechanical parts and machinery. The building at 1706/2 isn’t new, and it has the marks of years of work on the walls and the floors. We have lathes and milling machines that run most of the day. The sound is constant, a rhythmic grinding and whirring that you get used to after a while. Most of us here have grease under our fingernails by lunch time. It’s just the nature of the job when you’re working with metal and oil. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a reception desk with flowers. If you walk in, you’re likely to see a bunch of guys in overalls looking at a blueprint or checking a part with a caliper to make sure it's right. We try to keep the machines in good shape so they don't break down when we have a deadline to meet. Sometimes the weather in Ankleshwar gets incredibly hot, which makes the shop floor feel like an oven, but we just drink plenty of water and keep at it. We’ve been part of this industrial estate for a while now, and we know our neighbors well. It’s a practical life, and we take some pride in making parts that actually work when they are installed.
