Steel House

Steel House is right here in Dhariwal, sitting right on the G.T. Road. It’s not hard to find us because the BSNL Telephone Exchange is just a short walk away. We spend most of our mornings opening up the metal shutters and seeing the trucks and cars go by on the main highway. The dust from the road gets everywhere, but that’s just how it is when you're on a busy stretch like this one. People stop by when they’re passing through town or when they need something specific for a project. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now, and most of the local neighbors know exactly where the shop is located. Sometimes the nearby tea stall guy brings over some hot chai while we are busy working on a heavy piece of steel. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving metal around and making sure everything is handled the right way. The floor is usually covered in little bits of scrap and it can get pretty noisy when the work gets going. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that, just the shop and the tools we use every day. If you see the telephone exchange, you’re basically right there. It’s a practical setup. We handle whatever walks through the door. Some days are quiet and we just watch the G.T. Road traffic, and other days it's just non-stop work from morning until late evening. It is just the way it is.
