Duggal Shawls Industries operates out of No. 704/5/7. It’s a place where we’ve spent many years focusing on one thing: shawls. We deal with a lot of wool and different types of threads every single day. The workspace is filled with the rhythm of the machines and the sight of colorful patterns hanging up to be checked. It’s a family-style environment here. Most of us have been around textiles since we were young, so it’s second nature. We don’t have a big marketing department or a fancy lobby for visitors. If you come to see us, you’ll likely walk right into the middle of production. There’s usually dust on the desks and stacks of paperwork held down by heavy spools. We don’t use corporate slogans. We just talk about the weight of the fabric or how a certain pattern is coming along. Some days the machines act up and we have to spend hours getting them back on track. It’s just part of the routine. We focus on the weaving and the finishing, making sure each shawl is folded properly before it goes into a bag. We aren't a high-tech company; we’re just people who know how to handle a loom and a needle. It’s a steady, quiet kind of work that we’ve grown to appreciate over the years. We just try to get the bundles ready on time.
