Shankar Embroidery (P) Ltd. is situated at 2465/11, Katra Moti Ram. If you know the Hathi Gate area, we are just inside there. It’s one of those busy parts of the city where there’s always something happening and people are moving about. The lanes are a bit tight and it can be a struggle to find parking if you’re driving. We’ve got our machines set up inside and there’s usually the sound of stitching going on throughout the day. The place is filled with threads of all different colors and rolls of fabric waiting to be worked on. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the boxes piled up. We have a few people working the machines and someone usually handling the gate. It’s a private limited company, but it feels more like a small family spot because we’ve all been here so long. The walls are covered in samples from years ago. Some of them are a bit dusty now. We don't really do much in the way of advertising, mostly just people who know we are here. The afternoon sun hits the front window pretty hard, so we usually have the blinds down to keep it cool. It’s a lot of manual work and checking the patterns to make sure they look okay. We drink a lot of chai during the breaks. It’s just how the day goes here at Katra Moti Ram. We like the rhythm of the work and the sound of the needles.
