Guru Kirpa Chaman Lal Hair Dresser

Our shop is a small, old-fashioned place located in Goal Bagh, Amritsar. We are very close to the railway station, which means we see a lot of people who are just arriving in the city or getting ready to leave. Chaman Lal started this hair dressing business a long time ago and we have tried to keep it running in the same way. The walls are a bit faded and the tiles on the floor have some cracks, but it has character. We don't use any of those new, expensive gadgets. We stick to our traditional scissors, combs, and straight razors that have served us well. You can hear the trains whistling throughout the day, and the station announcement speakers sometimes carry over to our street. It is a busy, dusty part of town, but there is always someone to talk to. We have the old-style heavy chairs that can be adjusted with a lever. There is no fancy air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum as they spin. We spend our mornings chatting with the regulars who have been coming here for years. It is a simple life and a simple business. We open the doors early in the morning and stay until late evening. There isn't any promotional stuff on the windows, just our name and the work we do. It’s a local spot where everyone is welcome to sit and wait. We are just a short walk from the station.
