Dhani Woolen Mills

Our mill, Dhani Woolen Mills, is tucked away inside the Ghee Mandi Gate. If you know the old city, you know how tight those streets can be. It’s a place with a lot of history, and you can feel it in the walls of the building. We’ve been working with wool here for a long time. The smell of raw wool is something that stays with you, even after you go home for the night. It’s a bit of a maze getting here, but once you’re inside, it’s a hive of activity. We have the old-style looms and some newer equipment squeezed in together. The space is cramped, with bags of wool stacked up to the ceiling in some corners. When the machines are all running at once, you have to shout to be heard. It’s not the most comfortable place, especially in the summer heat, but it’s where we do our work. People in the neighborhood know us well, and we often see the same faces passing by the gate every morning. We don’t have a website or a marketing team. We just rely on the yarn and the blankets we put out. It’s a traditional way of doing things, and we haven't seen much reason to change it. The Ghee Mandi area is full of life and noise, and we’re just one small part of that old world. We keep the machines oiled and the wool moving every day.
