Dedar Beauty Salon

Dedar Beauty Salon is tucked away in Rim Zim Wali Gali. It’s a narrow little street in Amritsar, right behind Khalsa College for Women. Because of the college, we see a lot of students coming in. They usually want their eyebrows done or their hair styled for some function or just for the sake of it. The lane has a bit of a funny name, but it’s a quiet enough spot compared to the main roads. Inside, it’s mostly women talking and the sound of threading or water running at the wash station. It’s a small shop, so it feels a bit like a living room sometimes. We know most of the girls who come in regularly. They tell us about their exams or their families while we work. It’s a comfortable place. We’ve got our mirrors and our shelves full of different creams and bottles. It’s nothing like those big expensive parlors in the malls. We keep things simple and the prices are what you’d expect for a local spot. When it rains, the gali gets a bit muddy, but people still find their way to us. Being near the college means there’s always energy around. We just do our job, helping people feel a bit better about themselves before they head back out to the busy Amritsar streets. It’s a good little business and we’re happy to be here.
