A.K Hair Sallon

We've been here in Bharat Nagar for a good while now, right in Shop No.3 of the Main Bazar. It’s a busy spot, especially being so close to Batala Road where the traffic never really seems to stop. Most mornings start with just opening up the shutters and sweeping the front while the tea stall nearby gets going. A.K Hair Sallon isn't anything fancy, just a place where people from the neighborhood come to get their hair sorted. We see a lot of the same faces every week, mostly guys coming in for a quick shave or a haircut before they head off to work or after they’re done for the day. The chairs have seen a lot of use over the years, and the mirrors show every bit of the work we do. It’s loud out on the street with all the rickshaws and bikes, but inside it’s just the sound of the fans and the scissors. Sometimes the power goes out and we just wait it out or keep working if there’s enough light from the door. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that because everyone around here already knows where we are. It’s just a regular shop where we try to keep things simple and get the job done right. We’ve had kids come in for their first haircut who are now grown up and bringing their own children. That’s just how it goes here in Amritsar.
