Zabanga Elementary School

We've been here in Krishna Nagar for a while now, right about 5 kilometers out on the Delhi G.T Road. It's a busy spot in Aligarh. At Zabanga Elementary School, things are pretty straightforward. We spend our days teaching the basics to the local kids from around the area. The school building isn't anything fancy, but it does the job. You’ll see the children arriving early in the morning, some walking and some being dropped off by their parents before work starts. Our classrooms have the usual desks and chalkboards. We try to keep things organized, though with little kids, it’s always a bit loud during the breaks. The teachers here live nearby mostly, so they know the families. We deal with the usual stuff like monsoon rains making the road messy and keeping the playground tidy. It’s just a regular place where we focus on reading, writing, and a bit of math. We don't have big flashy signs or anything like that. People know where we are because we’ve been part of the landscape for years. We just open the gates every morning and get to work. Sometimes the fans are a bit noisy in the summer, but that's just how it is in Aligarh. We mostly just care about the kids getting through their lessons so they can head home for lunch on time. It's a simple life here at the school for everyone involved and we like it that way.
