Ravendra Hair Cutting

Ravendra Hair Cutting is a small shop located in the Main Bazar of Sathani, which is in Aligarh. Being in the main market means we are right in the middle of all the daily activity. You can hear the sounds of the vendors and the shoppers all day long. The shop has been here for many years, and it is a very traditional setup. We have the old-style chairs and the big mirrors that have seen better days. It is mostly just me working here, though sometimes I have someone to help out when it gets really busy on festival days. I handle haircuts and shaves for the men in the village and those coming in from the nearby areas of Aligarh. People do not come here for anything fancy; they come because they know me and they know I will do a proper job with the shears. I keep my tools clean and the floor swept as much as I can between customers. There is a wooden bench for waiting, and people usually end up talking about the crops or the weather while they sit there. It is a slow-paced kind of life in Sathani, and the shop reflects that. I do not use any modern gadgets, just the basic stuff that works. If you are walking through the bazar, you will see my sign. It is a humble place, but it serves the people here well and that is enough.
