Matha Senior Higher Secondary School

We’re located in Thumpoly, over in the Allappey North area. It’s a nice part of the region, and being at Matha Senior Higher Secondary School means we’re part of a tight-knit community. The building has been here for years, and it shows in the way the walls have aged. We have a lot of stairs, which keeps everyone on their toes. The windows stay open most of the time to let in the breeze from the coast, though it brings in a bit of salt air too. It’s a busy place with students moving between floors all day long. We don’t have a massive reception area; instead, you just walk in and someone will likely point you in the right direction. The playground gets pretty muddy when it rains, but the kids don’t seem to mind much. We have a small canteen that smells like tea and snacks in the afternoon. It’s not a polished corporate institution. It’s more of a place where things are a bit lived-in and comfortable. Our desks are old-fashioned, and the blackboards still get plenty of use. Most of the people working here have lived in Allappey their whole lives. We know the families and the local shops around Thumpoly well. It’s just a regular school where we try to keep things simple and honest. We don't need fancy slogans to tell people who we are.
