Our base is in the village of Punoti Bk, which is in the Barshitakli taluka of Akola. You’ll find us at the home of R. Mankar, who is the son of Ramrao Mankar. This is a very traditional farming area, and our company is just a way for the local growers to help each other out with the business side of things. Akola is known for being one of the hottest places around, so we spend a lot of the summer just trying to keep everything from drying out. We don't have a big corporate headquarters; we just use the space we have in the village to meet and store what we need. It’s a very informal atmosphere where everyone knows each other by name. We talk a lot about the crops, the pests, and the cost of everything we need for the next planting. We don't have any polished mission statements or marketing slogans. We are just farmers who understand that we are stronger when we work together. The work is hard and it never really ends, but that’s the life we’ve chosen. We take care of the paperwork and the logistics here at the house, and the rest of the time we are out on the land. It’s a practical, no-nonsense operation that focuses on the reality of living and working in rural Vidarbha. We don't need a lot of modern bells and whistles to do what we do. We just need good weather and luck.
