Streesangam Mahila Farmer Producercompany Limited

Our group is called Streesangam Mahila Farmer Producercompany Limited. We are located in Bhamberi, which is a small post in the Telhara tehsil of Akola. This is a company run by the women here in the village. We spend our days in the fields and then come together to talk about our work. It is not easy being a farmer, and it is even harder when you try to do it all by yourself. We thought it would be better if we joined hands. Akola is known for its cotton and pulses, and that is mostly what we deal with. The weather can be very dry, so we worry about the wells and the rain a lot. Our office at the post is where we keep our records and meet when we need to sign papers. We are not looking to become some huge company. We just want to make sure our families are okay and that we get a decent price for the hard work we put into the ground. Most of us have been working these fields since we were kids. We know the land well. When we meet, it is usually after the chores are done. We sit down, maybe have some tea, and figure out who needs what for the next planting season. It is a very local thing. Everyone knows everyone else in Bhamberi. We are just a group of women trying to do right by our farms and our homes.
