The Merawara Palace

The Merawara Palace is located right near Daulat Bagh in Ajmer. Even though the name sounds a bit grand, we like to keep things pretty down to earth here. Being so close to the gardens means we get a lot of people who are just out for a walk or visiting the local sights. The building has its own character, with thick walls and that old Ajmer feel that you don't find in the newer parts of town. I spend most of my time making sure the rooms are tidy and the courtyard stays clean. It’s a lot of work maintaining an older property, but we enjoy it. We don't have a big corporate office telling us what to do. It’s mostly just family and a few workers who have been with us for years. We know the city well, so we often end up giving directions to guests who get lost in the winding streets nearby. The pigeons around Daulat Bagh are always hovering about, and the sound of the city is always in the background. We aren't trying to be a five-star resort with marble everything. We’re just a solid place to stay where you get treated like a person instead of a booking number. If you’re coming towards the park, you’ll find us easily enough. We keep the gate open and there’s usually someone around to say hello. It's a simple, honest way to live.
