Hotel Taj Palace

Our place is on the main Pushkar Road, not far from the Brahma Temple. If you’ve ever been to Pushkar, you know how spiritual and busy the atmosphere is. We are right there in the middle of it. The 305001 area is always full of people from all over the world. Our building is a simple structure on the main road. It gets quite dusty with all the buses and cars going toward the temple, so we are constantly cleaning the front steps and the lobby area. We don’t have a fancy reception desk with computers; it’s more of a personal, face-to-face kind of thing. The rooms are basic and we try to keep them as tidy as possible. Some days the monkeys from the hills come down and we have to make sure the windows are shut tight. It’s just one of those things you deal with when you live here. We see many pilgrims who are tired from their travels, so we just try to get them settled quickly. The kitchen stays busy with tea and simple meals. It’s a lot of work running a hotel in a pilgrimage town because the crowds never really stop. We don’t have a marketing team or anything. We just rely on being right there on the road where people can see us. It’s a local life, and we are just trying to do our part every day. Pushkar is a unique place to live and work.
