Chisthy Sufi Foundation

The Chisthy Sufi Foundation is located right at Flower Shop No 6 in Dhan Mandi, near the Dargah Sharif. Festivals and prayer times make the area very crowded. You can always smell the flowers and the incense in the air around our shop. We spend a lot of our time talking to people who come from all over to visit the shrine. It’s not a quiet office environment at all. There are people constantly moving past, and the sounds of the market are part of our everyday life. We don't have a big board of directors or a fancy lobby. We just sit among the flowers and do what needs to be done for the foundation. Sometimes the shop gets very busy and we are all on our feet for hours. It’s a different kind of work than what you find in a regular office. We deal with a lot of local people and travelers too. Our space is small, filled with petals and the usual things you find in a market stall. We don't go for big marketing campaigns because the work we do is more about being present here in the Mandi. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. It feels good to be right in the heart of the Dargah area. Every day brings someone new to our counter. We just take it one person at a time and try to help where we can.
