If you go to Choudhary Market in Makarwali, you’ll find me at number 16. I am Vijendra Chaudhary. Being in the market means there is always something going on outside my window. It’s a convenient spot for people to drop by while they are out doing their shopping or running errands. My office is pretty basic. I have a desk, a few chairs for clients, and shelves full of files. I don't have a receptionist, so if I’m on the phone or with someone, you might have to wait a bit. I try to get to everyone as fast as I can. The work is constant. I spend a lot of my evenings reading up on new rulings or preparing arguments for the next day. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s important. I like being part of the Makarwali community. People here are hard-working and they expect you to be the same. I don't make big promises I can't keep. I just tell people what the law says and what we can try to do. That’s how I’ve always done things here at the market. I believe in being honest about how long things take in the court system.
