We’ve been here at 61, Shankar Chambers for quite some time now. Being near H.K. House on Ashram Road means it’s always busy outside. You can hear the traffic and the horns all day long. Vivek Steelco Private Limited is basically about metal and hard work. Our office isn't anything special to look at. It’s full of metal files, samples of steel, and old calculators on desks that have seen better days. We deal with a lot of suppliers and people who need steel for building houses or factories. It gets a bit dusty because of the nature of the business. We spend most of our mornings on the phone or checking stock lists to see what’s coming in. It’s a lot of logistical stuff that people don't really see from the outside. Sometimes the elevator in the building is slow or out of order, so we end up taking the stairs quite a bit. My father used to say that steel is the backbone of everything, and I guess that’s how we look at it. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make sure the orders go out when they should. The staff here has been together for years. We eat lunch in the small pantry and talk about the news or the cricket scores. It’s a straightforward business with no big secrets. Just steel, paperwork, and trying to keep everything moving smoothly in the middle of the city’s rush every single day.
