Shanghai Colour Chem

Shanghai Colour Chem is located over in Phase-1 of the Vatva GIDC. Our plot number is C-1/88/5. If you walk inside, you’ll see bags of pigments and barrels of chemicals everywhere. It’s a colorful place, literally, because the dust from the dyes gets on everything. We’ve all got stains on our clothes that won't come out. That’s just part of working with colours. We spend our days mixing and testing different batches. It requires a lot of patience to get the shades right. The air smells a bit sharp because of the chemicals, but you get used to it after a few days. We’re not a huge operation. It’s just a handful of us making sure the mixes are correct. We use old scales that we trust more than the new digital ones. The GIDC is a loud place with trucks constantly driving past our door. We mostly sell to other factories that need dyes for their products. We don't have a sales team or a fancy website. If someone needs something, they usually just call us up or stop by the office. Our office is just a corner of the warehouse with a desk and a couple of chairs. We keep our logs in big ledgers. It feels more real that way. We aren’t trying to be the biggest company, we just want to keep the machines running and the customers satisfied with what they get.
