Our unit, Unique Dyechem, is sitting at 1902 in Phase-IV of the Gidc Estate in Vatva. This part of Vatva is pretty industrial, with a lot of chemical plants and factories lined up one after another. Our space is dominated by large drums and mixing vats. It’s a place where you have to be careful where you step because there’s always something being moved or poured. The air has that distinct sharp smell that comes with dyes and chemicals, something we don't even notice anymore but visitors always mention. We have a small office tucked in the corner, but mostly we are out on the floor. It’s a lot of measuring and checking temperatures. The walls are stained with various colors from years of work, which gives the place a bit of character if you look at it that way. We get the trucks coming in at all hours to drop off raw materials or pick up the finished drums. It gets busy, especially toward the end of the month when everyone is trying to finish their quotas. We don't have any big speeches about what we do; we just make sure the mixtures are right and the containers are sealed tight. It is a long day’s work in the heat of the estate, but it’s what we know how to do. We usually finish up late and lock up the place for the night.
