We’re located at 18, GIDC Estate, Phase-1 in Vatva, which is a pretty well-known part of Ahmedabad if you’re in this line of work. Ishan Dyes Chemicals Ltd. has been operating out of this spot for years. Vatva is always humming with activity, and our street is no different. You’ll see drums stacked up outside and workers moving things on trolleys all day long. The smell of the chemicals is something you just get used to after the first week. It’s not a place for clean shoes, that’s for sure. We spend most of our time monitoring the vats and making sure the batches are coming out right. It’s a lot of waiting and then a lot of rushing around when things are ready. We have a small office where we handle the billing, but the real heart of the place is out back in the production area. The Ahmedabad heat can be tough, especially with the steam from the processes, but we manage. We aren’t a massive operation with hundreds of people, just a dedicated group trying to keep the production steady. People know us in the estate because we’ve been around the block a few times. We just focus on the day’s tasks and making sure the trucks are loaded before they head out. It’s basic, steady work that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. The floor is stained with different colors but that’s just part of the job here and nobody really minds much.
