Down in Vatva, things are always moving. Our spot in the G.I.D.C. is right in the middle of all that industrial noise. We spend our days working with colors, specifically the kind that ends up in denim. If you walk through the doors, you might see a lot of blue around. It is a tough environment but it is what we know. The office is tucked away in the front, but most of the action is in the back where the chemicals are processed. We started out small and stayed focused on what we do without making a big fuss. The roads around here can be a bit rough during the monsoon, but the trucks still find their way to us. We have a crew that has been with us through thick and thin. We don’t have any big corporate speeches to give. We just make sure the drums are filled and the labels are right. There is always a lot of steam and the smell of the worksite. It is just honest labor. Sometimes we sit outside for tea when the shift changes. You get used to the rhythm of the machines. It becomes like a heartbeat for the building. We just want to finish the day’s list and get things ready for tomorrow morning. It is a simple life for us here and that suits everyone fine.
