Unjha Pharmacy

Ahmedabad is a city that never really seems to get quiet, and being at Unjha Pharmacy means hearing the traffic all day long. It is just the way things are around here. The shop itself has a lot of history in the walls, or at least it feels that way when you look at how the paint has faded over the years. I spend most of my afternoon reorganizing the bottles because they always seem to get out of order. The air is thick and warm most months, so the little fan on my desk stays on until I lock up at night. I remember when we first started out, things were a bit more organized, but now there are stacks of paper and old bills tucked into every corner. It isn't a fancy place with bright lights or shiny floors. The floor is actually a bit uneven near the back where the stock comes in. Customers come in with their prescriptions, usually looking a bit tired from the commute or the sun. I recognize many of the faces now, though I don't always remember the names right away. We talk about the local news or how the price of everything keeps going up. It is a steady life, just being here in Ahmedabad and keeping the shelves filled with whatever people might need for their health. The evening is the busiest when everyone is heading home and the street lights finally flicker on.
